Journal #2

This week me and Melvin had to create a beat sheet after re-writing the treatment. I can see where these beat sheets come in handy. They are pretty short for our treatments, and it gets all the main points in the story nice and short. The beat sheet is pretty much just an outline which guides us when we start writing screenplays.

I feel as if me and my partner are having a great time with this. Yes we may mess around a bit i admit it, however we both innovate ideas which allows us to benefit the film and i honestly love how it is right now. Its a whole lot more clear, and it all makes sence.

Honestly me and my partner can imagine all of the great noir that come from this film. I hope it gets picked to be produced, although I believe that everyone's film should be produced because everyone, as i said before has diffrent opinions, and diffrent likings. This is a film class so what would be better than watching a film rather than hearing it?

Treatments

TREATMENTS

film treatments generally are fun to do because it allows the filmmaker to have a clear open mind and be creative with his or hers story. There may be limits occasionally on what is, and is not allowed. However honestly its great for all of us because it also allows all of us as filmmakers to step outside of the box that we are accustomed to. by accepting these limits we may find various variety's of genres we may like to work on that we did not even realize at first.  generally its pretty much just about taking a chance on something new that could potentially appear in our futures.

Now on to the negative things about discussing these treatments with a pretty large group of people. as filmmakers we all have our OWN vision of how a story is going to turn out and how we are going to set everything up. So when people automatically criticize our story's rather then listening throughout the entire story we simply lose a huge amount of attention for the criticizer. In my own opinion instead of attacking with criticism rapidly maybe the person should state something positive about the story, and then give his or hers own opinion of how the film should be. Then it will allow the person who wrote the story to be more open minded and take in any suggestions. Its funny just the other day a guy named Ramiro Arechiga told me, "if you cant explain your story then its not good" and this is what i have to say , "To be great is to be misunderstood." (Ralph Waldo Emerson, Self - Reliance)

Moving forward, overall this is great to work on with so many different people because everyone has different ways of thinking and it allows us to expand our minds into different ways of thinking. I'm happy with the people that are in my class due to the variety of unique people that are in there. they think differently then one another, and actually take things seriously, some what, rather then being in a class fulled with moronic people who would probably not even suggest, or pay attention at all.

Best Picture

The nominees for Best Picture this year are all outstanding films that are most definitely worthy of this award. The nominees are "mour, Argo, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Django Unchained, Les Misérables, Life of Pi, Lincoln, Silver Linings Playbook, and Zero Dark Thirty. I have not seen all of these films but a lot of them obviously get great critic reviews and are all worthy of taking home the award.

"and the award for best picture of the year goes to. . . " obviously Argo. this film, a long with the people who made everything possible such as Grant Heslov, Ben Affleck, and George Clooney should deserving be handed a award upon. The film Scriptures why Iran so desperately with Passion detest the U.S. the U.S. (explained in the beginning of the film ) and Great Britain gave Iran a follower type of leader. However the ruler became evil, and the two countries who put him there in the first place never checked on them at all, causing Iranians to have hatred.

Right Road

Road to the Oscars #3: Best Actor

Academy Award category for  Leading Role (Best Actor in a) is always going to be tough to actually win, however these five nominees have faced the challenge of going to above their expectations to actually get nominated,: Bradley Cooper (Silver Linings Playbook), Hugh Jackman  (Les Miserables), Daniel Day-Lewis (Lincoln) , Denzel Washington for (Fligh), and Joaquin Phoenix (The Mastert). All have worked very hard to reach the point that they are in, in there careers today, and it will finally payoff for one of these men.

I believe the Academy Award will be handed too,  Daniel Day-Lewis. Daniel Lewis's attempt of being one of the greatest presidents of all time, Abraham Lincoln, is just something that someone with very high confidence can only achieve. Lewis greatly displayed all the importancy of one of the greatest men in history. due to Lewis' acting its hard to believe he will not win this award.

Pan's Labyrinth

"Pan's Labyrinch", the 2006 film directed by Guillermo del Toro is soon to be transformed into a new musical. the film is about, "a young stepdaughter of a sadistic army officer who finds refuge and terror in a fantasy world in 1944 Fascist Spain. The stage version already has a book that has been written by del Toro and Jeremy Ungar". Pual Williams and  Gustavo Santaolalla have just gotten hired to write the lyrics and music. for the past years del toro has been working on this musical quietly
I really loved this movie when i was small and i really admire scary movies because of all of the hype that leads to the final scenes what might been the most terrifying thing you have ever witnessed. Although this is not the case for this film i still really love the dark fantasy that Del Toro has created to really make the very best that he possibly could to interpret everything to present his voice as a director. It has taken quite a while to have something relative to the film, and to know that is it becoming a musical is great because if you have ever seen the movie you can easily comprehend how the musical would look.

just by reading this article it makes me remember how in film anything can be done. and Del Toro created a transformation of a fantasy, and darkness to make it into a great movie. If he could combine the two to make the best of it, then anything that anyone ever does should be done by the persons greatest ability to do so. i for one would actually really want to go and watch this musical because i believe that it will simpily be great.

Wonder Women

CW, Warner Bros. Explore Casting The Lead In Wonder Woman Origin Project – Meet Iris

Waner Bros. TV (the studio behind The CW) has hired a casting director to search for a a women to become the lead role of Wonder Woman. A breakdown of the role has been released and story writter Allen Hienburg has written that "chronicles the female superhero’s life as a young Amazonian, before she becomes a warrior princess with super powers." However her name is now Iris and not Diana (as before). never the less this has been one of the CW's greatest year's and if Wonder Women comes out great it would make the franchise a whole lot stronger.
This article shows how important that it is to have casting calls to find the perfect actor to fit a specific role in whatever it may be that any filmmaker is creating for a project. i love DC comics and numerous amount of superheros and as a child i use to watch Wonder Women and i personally though it was intresting. it amazes me how after so many years a filmmaker can respark something that hasent really been an impact just as long as Wonder Women.
I have really learned through the year how important everything really is for everything due in film. if you do not like something and it dosent seem right then it is not. and i feel like that is the right example to use for casting someone because, especially in a TV series, i would want someone who is PERFECT for whatever the series is about and have the right attitude toward everything.
I do wonder if this will make or break the Waner bros. and CW industry or make it a whole lot better but i do hope it makes it a lot better due to the fact that i watch almost ever show on the CW http://www.deadline.com/2012/11/cw-warner-bros-explore-casting-the-lead-in-wonder-woman-origin-project-meet-iris/

MTV

An MTV investor is concerned about a 31% prime time rating in comparison of the present year, and the previous of 2011. "But CEO Philippe Dauman assured analysts this morning that MTV is “not broken.”" in fact the CEO states that the channel is "highly successful", and “no concerns about MTV’s vitality going forward.” The CEO also stated that "Catfish" (the TV show) about online romance became ”the highest-rated launch in MTV history.”

This illustrates the confidence level that MTV has, but mainly the CEO. I choose this article because honestly i was watching Jersey Shore, and an article on MTV came out so i saw no reason not to write about this. But what first caught my eye was the title of the article "MTV is not broken". this brought to my attention because when people think of MTV they think of really entertaining shows from "teens and young adults". and i just had curiosity on why they would even state a comment of MTV not being broken, but now we know why.

This actually does not have an impact on me as a student because its irrelevant. However as a future filmmaker this makes me aware that one must always be on the very climax of his/hers game, and if not percentages will lower harshly and someone else WILL step up next.  http://www.deadline.com/2012/11/viacom-mtv-philippe-dauman/
